Japanese Dragon (Freeehand marker) First Session

Did a Japanese dragon yesterday. Drawn with sharpies. The only thing I stenciled on was a dragon head I designed. Next session, I'll be cleaning up linework, thicken out some areas and get on the tedious job of doing the scales. Still needs lots of work but I had a lot of fun on this piece though.

Wrapped up the Phoenix tattoo for the most part last night. Added the tree branch and flaming egg as requested.. The client also wants me to add her daughter's name to it in a few weeks. Lots of positive feedback from this one.

Custom designed and tattooed this Hannya masked for pretty cool dude. Always thankful for those who have faith in me for not being a super experienced tattoo artist. But glad he really digs the work. Looking forward to designing and doing a japanese dragon soon.

A touch up pass definitely needed, but came out alright so far.

Phoenix Tattoo (Second Session) Work In Progress

Part 2 of this custom designed Phoenix tattoo. In hind site, I definitely see where I need to probably do another pass to touch up areas of color and tighten up certain parts. But I think its working out so far pretty good. Probably hit it up again on the next session, when I add the tree branch and begin work on the firery phoenix egg. I'm real glad though that client is really happy with it.

I'll replace this with a better pic soon. Sorry for the bad pic. Forgot my camera that day and had to use the client's phone. No offense to her phone though.

Yes indeed another post that is tattooed related. How about that? Started work on the Phoenix tattoo. Obviously still a work in progress. The girl I tattooed tapped out on me. Hopefully It will be finished by next session. Theres still part of a tree and an egg in a nest on fire.??? Just trying to make the clients happy I suppose. Either way I was diggin the design. Coming along though, so we'll see. My phoenix design was sketched out and painted in photoshop initially.

Don't mind the bad picture quality. This is taken right after I did the linework just to show where the old tattoo of her ex-baby's daddy's name and crappy heart. Also had to customize the image to make the cover up possible.

Actually, they were done a couple days apart. But at least I'm doing more art outside the "Day" job. This piece was for a new art forum jam of some sort some buddies at work started. Its a biweekly event and there is a "theme" that all the artist must abide by. The first theme...and hopefully not the last is a Dark Stalkers theme. Not like the theme hasn't been done before all over Deviant Art, but its giving us guys at work to have something to focus outside of the mundane world of casino gaming.

I decided to do a version of Lord Raptor / Zabel Zarock ... whatever they call him. Anyways I'm sick so I'm gonna get some rest...

Sorry on my lack of posting as of lately. Just been busy as of late. Anyways here are the updates:
The Mrs, the baby and I had planned on making a trip to Comic-Con on Saturday but unfortunately WWE Raw was making its mark on Las Vegas on the very same day we were planning to go. I guess you would say we are pretty big fans and Comic Con is a yearly event and wrestling never tours here. So decisions were made and Comic COn got the thumbs down. I know, BLASPHEMY!!! Besides, I know I would of spent Waaayy too much money at the Con. I'll post our pics from ringside.

Got mad at myself that I am not as good an artist as I want to be. And with where my life is now I find it harder to focus on my art with the baby and family now, my time if really is divided. Don't get me wrong, I love the family life, I just wish there were more hours in the day to focus on improving myself as an artist.
I also wonder if having one particular style will make me more successful than having a variety of diferent styles. Some seem to achieve great success by having one style and stickin to it. I don't think I can really do that. I love 2-d animation, 3-d, concept art, comic books, fine art, airbrushing. You name it! I like too many things and want too many things. Call me artistically greedy! Anyhoo, decided to rough out this guy out and experiment with painting in photoshop. Could work on it more and cleaned it up a bit more, but I just wanted to post. Anyways, enjoy.

Its about 5 years since I really worked on anything 3D and work wants me to do some simpler stuff for an upcoming game in the works. Well, I just got the word last week from my buddies at Animax that I will be recieving an Emmy Award Trophy for Outstanding Achievement in Content for Non-Traditional Delivery Platforms from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for my work for ESPN's Off-Mikes. It came as such a surprise, to actually be honored with such an award with my name engraved in it and everything. This will probably go as one of my higher achievements since winning First Place in Stephen Decatur Middle School Science fair in 8th grade. From what I know, they are ready and in process of shipping from Los Angeles. I just got to figure out where to keep it now, probably an oversized paper weight next to my computer or a door stop. Maybe a special glass case would be more appropriate. I'll post pics of me Flashing the award asap.

Arrgh!

This Dog is not mine but found this one on a magazine cover.

Haven't dabbled in my sketchbook in a long while so here is a couple of things to drop in. Not too productive of a weekend. Was Mr. Mom Saturday and Sunday while Rachel was at work and caught a good bit of the 48-hour "Benson" marathon on T.V. Land. Is that not an awesome weekend or what?
